The Alaska Department of Fish and Game killed a brown bear in Eagle River Tuesday morning, the second that the department has dispatched this year.

Dave Battle, a Fish and Game biologist, says his department, along with Anchorage police and Alaska State Troopers had gotten multiple reports from a neighborhood in the area of Lee Street and Wildwood Street, on its scheduled trash pickup day.

The bear was going from trash can to trash can, Battle said. One woman reported that, as she was cleaning up garbage the bear had strewn around, she saw it just five feet behind her.
