After nearly half a century in the U.S. House, Alaska's lone representative is set to remain in Washington D.C.
Rep. Don Young and challenger Alyse Galvin entered Election Day neck-and-neck in a recent poll putting Young just a few percentage points ahead of Galvin, but Young quickly opened up a lead on Galvin on election night. With 80 percent of precincts reporting, the longtime congressman held 54 percent of the vote to Galvin's 45 percent.
Late Tuesday night, Young thanked Alaskans for re-electing him. He said he wasn't concerned about Democrats capturing control of the House, in part because Republicans were on track to expand their Senate majority.
