Human Rights Commission director resigns over bumper sticker

The executive director of the Alaska State Commission for Human Rights, under fire overher criticism of a “Black Rifles Matter” bumper stickeron social media, has submitted her resignation.

Marti Buscagliahad been suspended for 15 working days without pay last week, after a 5-2 vote of the commission. It also ordered her to send a letter of apology to the owner of the truck bearing the sticker, Brent Linegar.

Brandon Nakasato, the commission’s chair, confirmed Monday that Buscaglia had submitted a letter of resignation. He declined to release a copy of the document, calling it a “confidential personnel record.” Nakasato said it was effective April 26.
