Budget amendments lead to frustration as lawmakers discuss PFD

Rep. David Eastman's budget amendments Tuesday dominated much of the discussion on the House floor in Juneau. One amendment included back pay for reduced Permanent Fund dividends over the last four years.

"There are four years, the last four years in fact, where the state has not honored the statutory calculation and this amendment would remedy that on behalf of the people," Eastman, R-Wasilla, said.

House Minority Leader Lance Pruitt said back pay would cost about $3.2 billion and impact future dividends.
