An armed North Pole resident shot one of two people accused of trying to steal a vehicle last week, Alaska State Troopers said, holding the other until law enforcement showed up.

Troopers said in an online dispatch that the theft and gunfire, off Faultline Avenue in North Pole, was reported to troopers at about 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 7. The suspects were subsequently identified as 18-year-old Fairbanks resident Conner M. O’Neill and a juvenile.
