An airman stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson died on a training mission Monday in the Republic of Korea.

Master Sergeant Joshua Jasper with 673d Air Base Wing Public Affairs at JBER says 23-year-old Airman 1st Class Darrick Jones collapsed and died Monday while on temporary assignment to train allies in the Republic of Korea.

MSGT Jasper says aid was immediately rendered, but the airmen were unable to revive Jones.

Jones, a water and fuels systems apprentice, was assigned to the 773d Civil Engineer Squadron. He joined the Air Force in September 2015 and was assigned to JBER in August 2016.
