Anchorage police are asking the public to steer clear of the area near Northwood Drive and Spenard Road. They've called in SWAT in the case of a man who barricaded himself inside an apartment complex Thursday night.
APD sent out a Nixle about the incident around 8:52 p.m. Police responded to the apartment located on the 3900 block of Northwood Drive, near Spenard Road
Officers on scene tell KTVA they want people in the neighborhood to know what's happening. Adding they have made contact with the suspect inside who has a knife with him, but assures there is no threat to the public
