Sending Old Glory out in a blaze of glory. Cadets in East High School’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program spent Wednesday afternoon retiring 40 American flags.
The proper way to dispose of worn-out flags is to hold a special ceremony to burn them.
This is the sixth year East High students have participated in the community service project. The eight cadets taking part in the ceremony were specially chosen from the 170 in the JROTC program.
