Anchorage hiker 'impaled' by arrow left on hiking trail in Cooper Landing

Thursday, a National Guard helicopter flew to a trail in Cooper Landing to rescue a woman authorities say was injured by an arrow which had been left on the trail.

The woman, Janis Bronson, age 59 of Anchorage, was hiking on the Lower Russian Lakes trail, and had gotten around 5 miles from the trailhead when she was impaled by an arrow, according to an Alaska State Trooper report.

According to AST, the arrow was left behind on the trail.
