The Anchorage Assembly voted 10-1 to approve a resolution recommending the Anchorage Police Department headquarters moves downtown.

The passing of the resolution on Tuesday means APD can move forward with the leasing of the former Legislative Information Office building on Fourth Avenue. APD says this will allow the department to have more space for evidence and a larger police presence in downtown Anchorage.

However, Assemblymember Amy Demboski was the only member to vote against the move saying she feels the process is being rushed.
