A former University of Alaska Anchorage student was arrested Sunday after Anchorage police say he threatened a mass shooting on campus.

Police say around 10 a.m., a UAA student contacted authorities about threatening text messages she received from her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Ralph Marcelo.

"It was discovered that an adult male, confirmed to be a former UAA student, had sent several text messages containing suicidal threats that quickly evolved into threats of a mass shooting on UAA campus," APD wrote in a statement Sunday afternoon.
