Two Wasilla teenagers are safe Saturday after falling through ice on Mud Lake.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is asking people to avoid going out on the ice at the Big Lake, Mud Lake, and Flat Lake areas and says much of the ice is dangerous right now.

The initial emergency call came in around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Mat-Su Borough's deputy director of emergency services, Ken Barkley, said the teens were riding snowmachines and both fell through a hole one of them made. One of the teens was able to get out of the ice by himself; the second was coached out by rescuers.
