In the final month of 2019, Anchorage's homicide count rose above the number of homicides recorded by Anchorage police for 2018, yet remains below the record set in 2017.
According to Anchorage Police Department records, 31 people have died in homicides in Anchorage this year, compared to a total of 30 homicide victims in 2018.
In 2017, the deaths of 37 people were classified as Anchorage homicides. By Dec. 4, 2017, there had been 34.
