An Anchorage bar owner said he is going out of business because of the health mandates in response to COVID-19 that have kept his bar closed since mid-March.

Ivan Ramos, owner of the Last Frontier Bar on Muldoon Road, added he has no plans to reopen the business he has owned for more than six years, even if the mandates grant him permission.

“We still have overhead costs, rental, utilities, things that can’t be forgiven,” said Ramos. “We can’t afford it, and so we had to close permanently.”
