Former President Donald Trump said that he plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania, the town where he survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally. In a post on Truth Social, the former president said he wants to hold a "big, beautiful rally" to honor firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was killed while shielding his family from the gunfire.

Trump did not say when the rally would happen or where it would be held.

"I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY, HONORING THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO. WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS," Trump wrote.

A bullet grazed Trump's ear while he was speaking to the crowd during the rally on July 13. Two other attendees were injured in the shooting. One of the victims, David Dutch, has been released from the hospital. The other victim, James Copenhaver, remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
