A Carrs Safeway supermarket will return to a Midtown retail complex which the grocery chain left more than two years ago, replacing the mall’s namesake department store.
Al Tamagni Sr., chair of the Midtown Community Council, said a lease for Carrs Safeway, as well as a Guitar Center music store, moving into the Sears store area of the Mall at Sears was signed in December. Stakeholders in the project, including Carrs Safeway and the mall’s owners, presented details on the project at a recent council meeting.
“They showed us some drawings and what the outside’s going to look like,” Tamagni said. “And then they gave us the presentation that that Carrs is going to move into the Sears, and that there’d be a guitar store there – and some enhancements all around the outside of the total structure, and do some enhancements on the inside also.”
