$500K for Vitamin D research? Really?

Just in case you actually believe Alaska does not have enough money for government consider this: Finance Committee Co-Chair Rep. Paul Seaton wants to spend $500,000 to pay for a study on the benefits of Vitamin D.

You cannot make this stuff up.

Vitamin D is a pet concern of the Homer representative, who believes Alaskans do not get enough and that the deficiency could be responsible for everything from Alaska’s high health care costs to autism, Must Read Alaska reports.

“He addresses it often in his newsletters to constituents, has produced booklets for both senior citizens and children on the topic, and has a page devoted to it on his official web site.”
