It's part of a worldwide movement to raise awareness about sexual assault -- people around the globe will wear jeans on April 25, known as "Denim Day."

According to Standing Together Against Rape (STAR), the campaign was originally triggered by a 1997 ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.

People have been wearing jeans in solidarity on the April date ever since, says Jennifer Brown, director of development at STAR.
