State elections workers are urging unregistered Alaskans to sign up early for voting in this year’s Aug. 21 primary elections, with several offices open through this weekend ahead of Sunday’s deadline to register.
This year's primaries will finalize the general-election field for governor, as incumbent Gov. Bill Walker seeks a second term against opposition from both sides of the aisle.
“Our team is committed to assisting Alaskans as they prepare to make their voices count in this year’s elections,” State Elections Director Josie Bahnke said in a Monday statement from the Alaska Division of Elections. “We want to make sure anyone who is eligible to vote has a meaningful opportunity to cast their ballot.”
