The Fairbanks-area search for a missing Army soldier came to a sad end Saturday, after Alaska State Troopers found him dead at a campground near Salcha.
Troopers said in an online dispatch that they discovered 22-year-old Mason Heimer’s body when they responded to Harding Lake at about 3 p.m. Saturday, for a report of an “apparent abandoned vehicle.”
“The vehicle was determined to belong to Mason Heimer,” troopers wrote. “Heimer was located deceased inside. No foul play is suspected.”
