A two-vehicle collision on the Old Seward Highway early Sunday morning left one person dead and two others hurt, according to Anchorage police.

Officers responded to the wreck, at Old Seward’s intersection with 79th Avenue several blocks north of Dimond Boulevard, just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday according to a police statement.

“Initial indications are that a red Mitsubishi Mirage was heading southbound on the Old Seward highway when it T-boned a cab driver who had pulled out from 79th Avenue (traveling eastbound to turn northbound),” police wrote. “The adult male driver, who was the sole occupant of the Ford Crown Vic taxi, was declared deceased at the scene.”
