An Anchorage man faces robbery, drugs and weapons charges after an altercation outside the Arctic Tern Inn.

A release from the Anchorage Police Department states that police responded to the incident between a man and woman just before 5:30 Tuesday morning. When officers arrived on scene, APD says the woman told police that she picked up an unknown man, later identified as 39-year-old Anwar L. Wheeler, at a gas station on Boniface Road.

She said the two got into an argument and she pulled over outside the motel. It was then, she told police, that they both got out of the car and Wheeler struck her in the chest, stole her ID and ran away. The victim told police Wheeler had a handgun, but had not threatened her with it.
